Sarah Tweets new view of family plans

We don’t usually republish Sarah’s Tweets, since we figure real fans are following her Twitter (she does have 10.1 million Twitter followers). But her series of Tweets this week eschewing motherhood for herself is different than what she’d said in the past about possibility of motherhood in some distant future. So as the site of “all things Sarah,” we decided to immortalize this here.  This is how US magazine summarized it.

Sarah Silverman has decided to live her “fullest life” as a comic on the road. The comedian, 46, opened up about her choice to prioritize other things over motherhood in a series of tweets on Monday, February 27.

“As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter. Men don’t have to do that. I’d so love to be a fun dad, coming home from the road & being my best fun dad self,” Silverman wrote to her more than 10 million followers.

“So this is just a lil f–k all y’all bc u can’t be a woman w/out sacrifice & that’s the fact jack,” she continued. “And I [love] my comedian brothers that acknowledge this truth. They’re my family & for a lot of us women comic sisters, our only family.”

Back in 2013, Jonah Hill joked about Silverman’s age and then-single status during Comedy Central’s The Roast of James Franco. The Masters of Sex actress admitted that the comments caught her off-guard.

“It hurt, but I’ll defend it. I’ll defend it to my death. But it’s OK. We’re made of feelings. It was really a gift to be forced to process that, and to have realizations about that,” she told HuffPost Live in November 2013. “I don’t want to be trite, but it really is different for women. Even in the brightest of pop culture, as soon as you’re at an age when you have opinions and you’re outspoken and you know who you are, you’re very much encouraged to crawl under a rock, and be embarrassed by any wrinkle. Or by still being alive.”

The magazine itself published this tidbit about her interaction with Emma Stone:

Emma Stone, the night’s Best Actress winner, made her way into the party as flashbulbs erupted after her. Sarah Silverman was the first to greet the newly-minted winner inside the party, giving her a huge hug. Stone, looking at her Oscar in amazement, said, “I mean, what the hell?!” When Silverman responded by paying her compliments, Stone waved her off, saying, “You are saying so many nice things to me.”

Tix: Sarah to be at Tig’s 4/1/17 benefit

Tig Notaro is holding a benefit at Largo (Los Angeles) on April 1, and Sarah is slated to join Tig, Margaret Cho, and Amy Burkman, in that night’s performances.  Below is the Largo description of the event. Tickets are here.

It’s official! Tig Notaro will be joined by Sarah Silverman, Margaret Cho and speed painter extraordinaire, Amy Burkman, at 8pm, Sat., April 1 at Largo at the Coronet for Krullapalooza IV – the girl-power edition – which will benefit MOSTe, an amazing group that helps 250 girls in LA’s toughest neighborhoods to believe in their dreams and turn them into reality.

Premium Tickets and donations:

In underserved communities in Los Angeles, many girls struggle to feel like they have ANY power. They may have ambitions, but they don’t have peers and role models to help them buy into the belief that their dreams are achievable.

So thousands of girls who could do so much more settle for lives that don’t do justice to their potential, and the world loses the contributions they could have made.

MOSTe is an amazingly effective 30 year old mentoring and support group that gives emotional, academic and financial support to inner city girls to nurture and validate their ambitions and quite literally change the trajectories of their lives.

MOSTe is made up of a bare-bones staff and an army of volunteer mentors who work hand-in-hand with the girls every step of the way from their inner city middle schools through college. They are spectacularly effective at fulfilling their mission of making the world smarter, one girl at a time. As one of the girls said, MOSTe was “like a hand reaching out from heaven.”

But in today’s climate, where so many causes are competing for our limited resources, they need a financial boost to keep their mission alive.

Please come to this great show and/or donate and help an amazing cause!

Did Kate spawn Sarah?

Here’s how Us Weekly reported Kate Beckinsale’s recent funny Instagram exchange.

Nope, not me! Kate Beckinsale had a hilarious response to an Instagram commenter who mistook her for Sarah Silverman’s mother on Saturday, February 4.

While out to dinner at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood, the Underworld actress, 43, shared a photo of herself with a group of A-list pals, including Molly Shannon, Lance Bass, JoAnna Garcia, Nick Swisher and Silverman, who confused one fan.

“That Sarah is your daughter? Pretty like you @katebeckinsale,” the Instagram user wrote. Rather than correcting the fan’s mistake, Beckinsale humorously replied, “Granddaughter. We are very proud of her.”

As (most) fans know, Silverman, 46, is currently dating Beckinsale’s ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen, which could explain why the commenter confused the comedian with the former couple’s 18-year-old daughter, Lily. Despite their mutual ties to Sheen, Beckinsale and Silverman have recently become close friends.

“I really love his girlfriend as well and we are lucky we both get on, and Lily gets on great with her,” the British actress told the London Evening Standard last December. “Having as many strong females in your teenage daughter’s life as possible is a good thing.”

Beckinsale and Sheen, 47, have also kept a close bond since their 2003 split. “We split up ages ago,” she told the newspaper. “We have been not together far longer than we were ever together. But I really love him and like him and we make each other roar with laughter.”
