Andy Samberg wanted Sarah in the worst way when he played the character Troy Bulletin-Board in the “Smellin’ of Troy” episode of The Sarah Silverman Program (S3:Ep5). And now he’s got her in the best way: as a co-star in his first Lonely Island movie. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story of Sarah’s signing on to what producer Judd Apatow is calling, Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie. Apatow tweeted that production began May 13.
According to Slashfilm.com, Samberg met the other two members of the parody music group, The Lonely Island, — Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone — all the way back in junior high school. They joined Saturday Night Live in 2005, where they created the infamous “Dick in a Box” number (with Justin Timberlake), as well as numerous other pieces of hilarity. The movie will be directed by Schaffer and Taccone.
THR describes the movie as being about “a rapper (Samberg) whose latest album bombs and he must do the unthinkable: a reunion concert with his former boy band.” Sarah will play “the rapper’s sharp and sarcastic publicist who has to suffer many indignities.”
