On Kelly and Michael show 11/27/13

zap2itToday Live with Kelly and Michael aired Sarah’s appearance. No video available yet, but plenty of articles focusing on her having told about the three times in her life she has been punched in the face. (Fans will probably have heard her tell those before, but we never get tired of such classics…) For neophytes, here’s how zap2it.com reported on the Kelly and Michael appearance:

Sarah Silverman is always a little bit surprising. That’s why, when the comedian appeared on “Live with Kelly and Michael” to promote her HBO special, “We Are Miracles,” it wasn’t a shock to learn she has been punched in the face three times.

“My dad and I have both been punched in the face three times. Which I think is character-building,” Silverman said with a completely straight face.

How did the three assaults occur? When asked, Silverman happily gave the details of each punch. “I got a job passing out flyers for a club in New York City … It was the first time I got punched in the face,” the comedian related. She shared her street corner with a guy advertising a chicken restaurant when some “tough” kids started giving the man a hard time. When it got physical, Silverman intervened. ” I got in between them — and I’m not a hero, I just didn’t think anybody would strike a lady,” she said.

Those awful teens did, and Silverman ended up knocked unconscious from a blow to the temple.

The second punching incident occurred on the set of the film, “The Way of the Gun.” “Ryan Phillipe beats me up,” explained Silverman. One of the takes went wrong, and Phillipe’s punch actually connected with Silverman’s face. The actor was really upset about the situation. “When I opened my eyes, he was already crying,” she said.

For the final punch, Sarah Silverman had to take things to Comic-Con. As anyone who has ever been to Comic-Con knows, the place is full of socially awkward people and massive crowds in which inadvertent violence is always a possibility. “There was a line of people to take pictures with me,” Silverman said. “This guy had a Hulk fist …” For some reason, the Hulk-wannabe hit Silverman right in the face. “I look and he is being dragged away by two huge security guards,” she said. But it’s not like the comedian held onto any hard feelings over the situation. “He didn’t know how to handle his feelings,” she explained earnestly.

Sarah Silverman’s “We Are Miracles” special is airing on HBO.

I think we should spend a couple of days together. Relax….I’m not a stalker or whack job. I just think you are funny and I could definitely make you laugh!!! I saw a post on FB today from someone who said that she had seen you 7 times and that you do all the same old jokes, I responded that you weren’t hanging with the right people and that you simply needed to change it up a bit and then watch what happens. (I’m old; 63, but I still make people laugh) I think you must have been a total pain during those adolescent years! You are three years older than my oldest daughter and she can definitely make you laugh!!! I think I have something to offer you in terms of new material but it has to be interactive. You and me in a room, i don’t care where and I’m ok with other people there…that adds to the quality of the reparte and we begin and if I can’t make you laugh, you get to buy the drinks. And if I have to buy the drinks, I am probably fucked because I am adjusting to a new way of spending after selling my business on 12/28/12. Hearing aids. Talk about a funny subject. One of the five senses and so much hysteria there…did you hear the one about the guy who went to the doctor and while he was there he enquired about his wife’s hearing problem…..I live summers off the coast of Maine on an island and you are always welcome to visit. I am creative in the uber sense of the word. I am going to be in NY on business (new business happening, dog necklaces, “Dress Up The Pup”, you can’t make this shit up….but I did and it’s true that I need to go to Brooklyn for beads.) I have a good friend who has been in the entertainment business for a long time in New York. Maybe she could join us someplace of your choosing where you won’t get malled (I know it is mauled but I prefer the former spelling). Maybe you could give me some tips on handling the attention. That’s one of those moments that you don’t even try to figure out. I think I have it figured out though. If I am ever as famous as Sarah Baracuda Silverwoman, (I knew an artist once who changed her name from Weinman to Weinperson) I will insist on a six inch high wooden box to be close by (maybe eight or ten inches would be better) and I will immediately step up on it so that I am above the crowd and I will say, “if your quiet, I will talk.” and then I will say, “Hey, yo, all you cuties, Nanny McCee gets tired and she is going to bed because she is old. Party on for me. I love you all and goodnight!” I make a practice to say I love you….and I do love you Sarah Baracuda. You’re a riot!!! (i have “Miracle” set to record.) Are you in NY or LA? I will train it from Albany to NY but I am driving across the country at the end of December with my husband and Hope the Dog. She is my model for the new business. Here’s a hug funny girl! You’re the best.
