Brittany, i think you misunderstood.
First of all, Sarah is absolutely hilarious. If you don’t get her type of humor, I am guessing you also think Steven Colbert is a republican. So, when you say she was ignorant, you only got part of it. She is portraying ignorance by satirizing those who are ignorant! Also, when you refer to the crickets chirping, that is at least partially untrue. To begin, MTV made a poor choice in having such a small audience to be live. It looked like half of the people there were the celebrities, who don’t really make all the noise anyways. The other half of the people were fans, who were really far away from the stage, where all the microphones are. SO, you couldn’t hear them. Also, some of the non-laughter can be the fact that Sarah had to follow Britney’s horrible performance. It was so bad, im sure people were very focused on how much that sucked, and weren’t paying as close attention to the best performance of the night… Sarah. Also, Sarah is not calling Britney’s children a mistake, she is just re-stating what Britney has been quoted as saying about her children! You also seem to think that sarah is a christian, which further weakens all of your points. If it wasn’t obvious at first, sarah even makes references to her being Jewish in the segment! Please be more informed before you make such accusations.
To Sarah: AWESOME JOB TONIGHT! I hope to see you do more soon. I still am laughing about space travel being the gayest form of travel… I can’t believe that was a year ago already! Secondly, I think what you did was smart, by not commenting on Paris Hilton . Although i think your reference to the teapot and kettle went WAY over Ms. Hilton’s Head.

Obviously some of you have no appreciation for humor. Comedians make fun of people and situations - it is their job. And as for making the cuts at Britney - perhaps if Ms. Spears had conducted herself better over the past few years there would not be anything to say about her. You blame Sarah for restating facts about Britney’s life - when really Britney is the one to blame for all her self-destruction. Maybe if she would commit herself to seeking some help I could find some sympathy for her. However as long as she continues to engage in these behaviors and state her children are mistakes - I will not feel bad for her. She is choosing this life, without regard for anyone else in her family, especially her children. I think Sarah commenting on her at the VMA’s should be the least of her troubles at this point.

First I would like to say that I do understand Sarah’s humor, but I hardly ever find it funny. What she said about Britney Spears at the MTV awards was absolutely disgusting and aiming below the belt. Regardless of comedic style there is a line. We all heard about the Michael Richards incident; the line was crossed that night. Skin color aside, there should still be some respect between the comedian and the person their material is based on.

It would not suprise me to hear that Sarah does the exact same routine at a club, but for her to tell these jokes on national TV was fully uncalled for. There is unspoken human to human respect, and this routine was complete disregard for that respect.

Britney threatened to ditch her VMA performance just minutes before she took the stage. Want to know why? Britney overheard Sarah Silverman rehearsing her monologue in which she calls Britney’s babies mistakes and takes jab after jab at Britney.
Britney made it very clear with MTV that Sarah was NOT allowed to talk about her kids, and MTV agreed. That big-mouthed bitch said it anyway.
Sam Lufti was overheard backstage screaming at Sarah Silverman because of her outrageous remarks saying: “Sarah Silverman is a seriously unprofessional person to make fun of infants to get a laugh. Making fun of kids is not condonable,” and that “she should have picked on someone her own size.”
Perhaps this why Britney looked upset during her performance. Britney was seen backstage in Alli’s arms crying about how cruel people can be to her babies.
While it is Silverman’s job to get a laugh, it should not be at the expense of little babies. Your career must be hurting if you have to turn to bashing infants in order to gain a laugh. You’ll get what’s yours.

All I want to say is that I was too disappointed in the performance that Britney gave last night. But I was at one time a big fan of Britney’s. I think that anyone that has gone through the mistakes that she has and still is willing to put her face out there and try again, deserves a little bit of credit. No matter who Britney is, her kids should never be talked about in that way. I don’t think that she over reacted at all by being as mad as she was. Just because she is in the public eye does not mean you, me, or anyone has the right to say anything about her kids. I guess I think about how bad those kids are going to feel when(how sad this is) one day google themselves or their mother and read about how much of a mistake they were. I guess I am just saying put yourself in her or their positions.

after reading all the comments on here, I probably will repeat several things that were said, but I HAVE got to say what I want to say in the hopes that this talentless comedian they call Sarah Silverman will read this and seriously consider re-thinking her actions when returning to the stage. I can understand needing to earn a few bucks here and there to pay the bills, but when your payment comes in due to the fact that you had to stoop to the level of calling someones elses children mistakes……I pity you. As a mother myself, my heart bled for Britney in knowing that she had to listen to such ignorance only a few feet away from her. You people say that Sarah’s “performance” out shined Brtiney’s tonight. But did you know that Britney over heard Sarah’s rehearsal only moments before she hit the stage>? I dont blame the poor girl for not wanting to give it her all! Who would after hearing such crap come from the mouth of a woman she doesnt even know? Britney has to endure so much from the world today. Why continue to “kick” her when she is down. It makes me so sick to think that this is what people find funny now. I have always said to people that if you want to talk about me…go ahead, I am grown, I can handle it. But if you have to talk about my child to gain some sort of feeling of greatness or power, you have a greater power to deal with when your time comes. You choose to judge now, but just wait until its your time to be judged. How will you look Sarah, in the eyes of MY Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST, when the time comes? Do you think it will be funny to talk about God’s most precious gift to parents then? It seems to me that the only “mistake” tonight was allowing someone with such ignorance to be seen on national television. I will most definatly keep Ms. Silverman in my prayers. It seems to me that she is a sad, lonely person who only gains happiness through the hurt, pain and sorrow of others………

Another thing is Sarah said her kids were cute. Britney Spears has even called her children mistakes. So really, come on now. Brittany’s performance was disturbing and very lacking.

I don’t think what sarah said has anything to do with how funny or smart it was. It’s basic human respect. Fair enough make jokes about people but it’s not appropriate or considerate to bring their children into it especially when one day those children will grow up and have access to the internet and could very easily pull up a file on the 2007 VMA’s.
